Bio
A songwriter, a drummer, and a pipe organist, mixed with a dash of policy wonk, grown in Annapolis, MD but now ripening in Austin, TX - this is Lucas Will Johnson.
He has played in rock bands, winning multiple "best drummer" awards at band battles. He has worn a tux at the back of the orchestra, going on tour in Europe - twice. He has accompanied hymns in church on Sunday mornings and undertaken pipe organ recitals on Sunday afternoons. He has even written newspaper columns, suggesting new ways to think about music. And he has obtained a degree in public policy, hoping to change the world for the better.
Now he lives in Austin, writing and recording original music that draws on his wide musical background and usually involves him playing all of the instruments. It is a mix of rock with some folk, funk, and jazz, with lyrics sometimes wrestling with the problems of the world, other times reveling in the joys and absurdities of life.
Always looking for new types of music and new ways to perform music, Lucas is happy to collaborate and explore uncharted sonic territories. He is also available as a pipe organist for your church, substitute or otherwise. If interested in collaborations or organ work, contact him...
