About Timing Jan/Feb 2011 This song is technically mostly finished. It has music and lyrics. However, I played it really terribly. I wanted to just get out a rough cut of it and maybe work on a better arrangement later. After a few weeks of jazz piano lessons for the first time ever, I attempt to use a little of what I've learned. Lucas as a piano- singer-songwriter... Not a practiced medium for me. And the lyrics are basically about one of those particular parts of life you have no real control over, but which can affect your entire future if it goes one way or another. This song started with the lyrics. I'm noticing a pattern in how I deal with vocals. Rarely do I have a compelling melody first, it's usually a linguistic idea that I then use to patch together a melody over whatever harmony I've created. I should spend more time on that going forward... Lyrics: did I wait too long to write this song? or was the wait too short I hope I picked the right day to go to the piano and play cuz now it's too late to abort it doesn't really matter if you're bad at rhyming but what do you do if you're bad at timing there are only two options right now or later well I'm not a waiter tell me if I chose right it's the time to decide if the clock's on my side it doesn't really matter if you're bad at rhyming but what do you do if you're bad at timing
