About Escalate This Written/recorded august/september 2010 I did a fair amount of stereo micing for single instruments on this track, testing out how that makes it sound a bit more full... instrument list: on the verse- strummed guitar bass bassdrum/snaredrum-hihat hits cymbals tambourine on chorus - full reverb organ with fast leslie twice, one on both sides bass drum toms weird yellow straw shaker, maracas rim clicks on the toms on melody thingy - muted guitar viola (at times) bass old snare drum, slightly muted cymbal dings in a couple places on bridge bit - guitar with amplitube for distortion bass violas twice, recorded in stereo but slightly panned to each side cymbals and of course, vocals in all sorts of places This song will have a video with it as well at some point. The lyrics were born during a walk around my neighborhood when I felt a rock in my shoe, and thought it would be an interesting image and choice to add MORE rocks. (I didn't, but it gave me some verse lyrics.) In general, I get pissed off at egos that don't know how to stand down when they confront each other. I like the instrumentation and arrangement in this song a lot. Not fully satisfied with the flow in a couple places. And not a perfect performance everywhere. Points to my sister Anna for playing viola! I used to play, but my abilities are still at an unpracticed eighth grade level and I didn't have time to get any kind of chops up to some sort of snuff. She hadn't played in a bit either and we only took a few takes but whatever. These are all demo-quality anyways.
